Gerson says that for most heartburn patients, there’s insufficient evidence to support the notion that eating these foods will make heartburn worse, or that cutting them out will make it go away.

Drinking coffee may shield the liver from the worst ravages of alcohol, a study of more than 125,000 people suggests. The risk of developing alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver dropped with each cup of coffee they drank per day.
The latest buzz on coffee and health is that drinking one to three cups of coffee per day might help save postmenopausal women’s hearts.
A 15-year study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows fewer deaths from heart disease or other non-cancerous inflammatory diseases among postmenopausal women who reported drinking at least one to three daily cups of coffee.
Coffee drinking may lower the risk of developing type-2 diabetes. Two teams of researchers have found that coffee has a protective effect, with one finding that those who drink the most are at the lowest risk of having the disease.
